who we are
SEWAA is a nonprofit organization based in the Philadelphia area that addresses itself to the problems faced by South Asian women living in the United States. SEWAA was formed in response to the growing need felt in our community by the women who migrated to this country and found themselves in totally alien surroundings.
In particular, SEWAA is here to provide the much-needed support and assistance for women, primarily of South Asian origin (from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and Pakistan), who are abandoned, harassed racially or sexually, or are victims of domestic violence.
Since its founding, SEWAA has helped hundreds of women escape from abusive environments and make a life for themselves.
SEWAA is 100% run by volunteers committed to our cause.
